Review:Not much to say. A harmless adaptation of the original anime with some extra content. I mostly bought it because the cover art is pretty :3

Author:Priya Parker

Review:While Parker does make some interesting points about how we can make our gatherings more purposeful and meaningful, this book falls into the same trap that many "business, self-help" books fall into in that it honestly could have been a single web page or article instead of a whole book. It contains a lot of fluff that can be skipped over after Parker makes her point. I was also disappointed by how much of her advice was based on anecdote and "trust me bro I do this for a living" over actual scientific or historical evidence.

Review:I could not finish this book. It's not that it was that bad, it was just so incredibly slow that I was reading it for 2 months and just could not get into it. I get that this is a memoir but the author spends so much time talking about her childhood and not focusing on the interesting stuff like her mother's murder or her grandfather's adult video store.

Review:I read this book really fast which for me means it was a very interesting read! It was fascinating to get an insiders look into what working for Amazon corporate is really like. The thing is that and the way that it impacts her life is what the book is all about, what makes it interesting BUT the author constantly builds up to something really interesting and then ends the chapter. Like she'll be talking about having an interview with a reporter who wants to expose Amazon's working conditions and has all this build-up about how it's so controversial and then she arrives at the interview and... the chapter ends and she doesn't even tell us what she says. Yet she has time to talk about things like ?? Her concern about her husband's penis getting sunburned??? Why would we want to know that? She also tries to tie the book together with a feminist theme which is great for when it relates to her job, but seems unnecessary when it's not. But other than that, good read, would recommend!
